Is anyone else on here joining in the TUC march from Victoria Embankment to Hyde Park on March 26th ? May see you there then
Me and OH will be going from Yorkshire. There are 2 coaches booked from Scarborough and Bridlington. Im hoping to meet up with my brother who is a councillor in Daventry who will be going with a coachload from there, and my son who lives in London and possibly another member of my family travelling from Birmingham. Its going to be a bit of a family get together as well as fighting for our jobs etc. looking forward to it. Going to be a long day though as we wont arrive back home probably till midnight and we lose an hour the next day when the clocks are moved forward

There were always going to be cuts but these appear to be truely detrimental.
Given that the Tories want to "solve" this in 3 years so they can bribe the electorate before the next election you do have to question thier motives.

we dont mind cuts if they are in the correct place, but cutting down in places where it puts peoples lives at risk is just not on !! They have made so many cuts at our hospital that locals now have to travel 20 miles in an emergency. Babies have been born in lay bys on the way and heart attack casualties have died in the ambulance when they could at one time be treated here. The main road between our hospital and Scarborough, which is a busy road during summer and gets blocked in winter as it cetrtainly did this year., We are a relatively new hospital, only 2o years old and had all the facilities here but instead they make cutbacks and now have to go to an old hospital with is often overloaded and understaffed. Some of our staff are working 12 hour shifts and cannot possibly be at their best all that time. better to have more staff doing less hours and being alert. This is also their opinion.
Dave...I do not know who is tight and who is wrong........cuts need to be made and whether they are now and savage or slow and controlled. We have had different opinions from different "experts" but decisions have to be made.
Sitting on the fence is not an option.
The Tories pre election method was quite clear and this is the way they think is the correct way .............only time will tell.

That always has been and always will be the tactics of ANY Government.

20 miles is NOTHING.....I know that road well and if I had an accident involving head injury or heart attack, I would want them to get me to a Neurosurgical Unit and Vascular Unit at either Leeds or Hull, accompanied by a trained Paramedic........stopping off at either York or Scarborough may well indeed reduce your chances of survival...small District Hospitals do play a part but for severe cases an specialised Unit is essential.......and 20miles is NOTHING....in my opinion.
