Redundancy as a result of Liquidation
The company i worked for for 8 years went into liquidation the first week in January. The administrators told us we would receive our government redundancy in approximately 6-8 weeks. It is now 8 weeks since that date. I emailed the administrators yesterday and they told us that our claims had not yet been processed and they would look to get on to them in the next 2months, and thereafter we should receive our payment 6-8 weeks later. So i was made redundant in January and it could be June before i see any of my redundancy claim. This surely doesnt seem right??
Ive never dealt with anything like this before - does anyone have any experience in this field?

Lofty, apparently it is the government that pay the redundancy payment and we will only recover any wages should there be anything left when the creditors have been paid. I am only owed 12 days wages and 10 days holiday so not too concerned about that. Im more concerned about the 8 years redundancy (8 weeks money) at the government rate of £380 per week

I see. Hope it comes through asap then. I wasn't entitled to any redundancy when it happened to me. It was a long time ago (Court Line Aviation) and the whole thing happened overnight and left 3,000 people across the world with no jobs!! All the papers talked about was the poor holidaymakers who had lost their holidays!! No mention of all those who had lost their livelihood

I am in exactly the same position , Not paid since January but worked for nothing till end of February , leaves a bitter taste I can tell you, Company went into liquidation last week and the RPS form i filled out had a time line on it , I am sure it stated about 8 weeks for redundancy and then in 90 days time they will send another form for the lack of notice period... as for wages owed , well anything will be a bonus .
I tell you now , the 23 years I have given good service makes anyone bitter , I have never claimed a single penny before and to be made to survive on £65.48 per week job seekers is sobering .... I mean what is a man , wife, 2 kids and a dog supposed to live on?? ...... I just hope my claim does not take as long ...... else we might have to eat the dog ...;-)
(p.s for all those of a sensitive nature eating the dog was a joke)
