i started a new job 2 weeks ago.
i work with 5 other women, they are all slovakian. these ladys speek very little english.i have been feeling very isolated and have 5 bosses barking orders at me,and calling me oy! today i was told by an offsite supervisor that they have been telling the main bosses that i am no good at the job.
He also said that they have done this to others in the past as they are a "click" and do this so they can get jobs for their friends . they all live together in the same house and come from the same town in slovakia.
i sit with them at breaks and try to get involved and communicate but they just ignore me.
what should i do ? am i being paranoid? should i wait to see what happens or just ask what the hells going on. also no one has come to me and said that im doing anything incorrectly or badly. thanks deb

Hi Mazamoo,

sorry you're having such a bad time. Unfortunately some workplaces do have these cliques and unless the manager is willing to take action, there's not a lot that can be done. What sort of work is it? Can you carry on doing it even without a great working relationship with the colleagues?
mazamoo if you can get another job you should leave.................although it's not fair it's not worth the hassle.
Tell your boss, if he doesn't support you then look for another post. These peeps often work cheaper & aren't aware of employment laws, that suits some employers.
Stuff 'em.

Just get on with your job and ignore them.

If you leave, they have won.
Agree with Hopkirk, hang in there , ignore the lot of them , do your job and when you find something better go for it. .These women don't pay your wages,so don't get involved. Good luck.
i would start acting shifty around them...carry a notebook, a camera etc an make them feel they are being assessed...

lets face it, if they are badmouthing you, the boss may start to brelieve it so you have nothing to lose...they are never going to accept you so play them at their own game
That's mass immigration for you.

thanks for your words of support, im in agreement with the idea of sticking at it for a while and play them abit , ya know...
i spoke to my sis and she said the same thing as you brenda and after speeking to one of the supervisors today im feeling a bit more positive about the situation. i am also gonna keep an eye out for something else as i cant see it lasting long term , im worth much more than this. thanks deb
