If you had to downsize your company who would you lay off? Sick, Lame, Lazy (not all the same person) or those that put in the hours and get results?
Unfortunately the world is a very competitive place at the moment so it does not take much for a company to think about letting staff go in order to maximise their income.

i agree, my mate was told a couple of weeks ago that they were stopping her job, (but now its being done from another depot) and with all th stress she is on the sick and has now been given a letter today to say that hr are visiting her tomorrow with a view to redundancy on friday! she just wondered where she stood, she has been offered other jobs but refuses,
