Hi, I'm very worried at the moment as i am claiming back my bank charges with Licit Legal. Since December licit legal have had my statment and still to this date i have'nt recived my back charges back!! The thing that worried me the most is that the only contact i have with licit legal is phone calls. I have not recived any letters to let me know how things are going. The last contact i had was over a month ago, telling me that the bank will not pay up so its going to court! I called licit legal yesterday to find out whats going on and i was given an email address to contact!!!! I've sent an email but just like when i call i've had no reply!!! I want to stop using this company but i can't. If i cancel then i could be liable to pay upto 500!! Money i just don't have! Please Help! Thank you.

Have you signed a contract with them?

This is unfortunate as you could have claimed the charges yourself, with the free letter templates available on the web.

I have signed a contract.

I did'nt want to claim back my bank charges on my own because i owe the bank money and i thought if i went with a company it would be done really quick!
if they are breaking the terms of their contract you may be able to get out of it... try www.consumerangel.com they are very good and may be able to advise you. good luck!
I too paid Licit Legal to act on my behalf and the only dealings they want now are via email which I find totally unacceptable. I ahve now done some more digging and find they are NOT soliccitors or a regulated financial company which may mean that the contacts were signed by us ynder false pretences and I am now seeking legal advice.
connorvwFri 15/06/0711:59 Hi there I too am using the 'services' of licit legal and have had my claim open since the end of October 2006 and they STILL haven't resolved it. The staff are rude, unhelpful and really seem to treat me like a hassle as opposed to a customer. They do not like their customers challenging them and they will not give you copies of documentation they have sent to the bank if you ask to see it. I have made several complaints to them with no success and they never return your calls. I signed up with them as I thought it would be quicker and easier as opposed to going it alone. At least, this is what I was told by them when they called me. In fact, the opposite appears to be true. I have had friends do it themselves in much less time and with less hassle than I for more money, with the same bank! I am about to report them to the new regulatory body which governs their activities they also are meant to have complaints procedures (which they don't or at least don't use) and I suggest anyone who is experiencing the same problems do the same, they are not doing what they are meant to be doing. I'd also suggest that we all get together and contact some media outlets who will be interested in this type of thing. I work in the media and would be happy to co-ordinate this. http://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk/details.asp x/3476/Licit_Legal_Limited/2 the above is a link the THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE who regulate them, complaints can be made via the site also. Additionally, you can read what they are meant to do to keep their licence - which they will loose if they carry on in the fashion they are currently, no doubt.
sorry link seems to have been corrupted, here is the correct link

Hi Connorvw. I too have been with licit legal since November 2006. I have had the same problems as you.
I recived a letter on the 24th May telling me that the bank have offered me 815 and that i should take it. So i signed the form that had to be sent to the bank. On the form it had please send cheque to licit legal. I would rather they do this as my account with Natwest is with a debt managment company. I called licit legal last week to see if the cheque has arrived but was spoken to by a very rude women who sounded like she just could'nt be bothered!! She told me it can take up to 14days for the bank to send a cheque.
hi i and a friend of mine have had the same problems with licit legal, i advise you to contact stuart davis, from claims management regulations monitoring for the ministry of justice tel. 0845 4506858. i have been in touch with them and they seem to have got the ball rolling for me, they have the power to revoke the licence to trade from licit legal, and dont worry about having to pay for whay you have not recieved.if you need more details you can contact me @ [email protected] hope this helps

Well what a week. I called the bank today after still not reciving a cheque of any kind!
The bank have told me that the cheque has been sent out to Licit Legal as there are no notes or claims open on my account. So I called Licit Legal only to be told that the person I had asked to speek to was busy!!! And that there was another guy called GARY that will contact me...............STILL WAITING FOR HIM TO CALL!!!!!

I think I will let my partner call them on my behalf as he will get answers from them. Everyone that i have spoken to at this company have been rude and sound like they can't be bothered!
licit legal have a new update email address liltd.org.uk they seem to have got there act o.k now and a mr. alex ward takes the calls seriously and spoke to me in a propper manner, telling me some of his staf had now been dismissed for talking to clients in an unacceptable way.
I have also recently been suckered in to send my contract in to these people at Licit Legal recently, I can not beleive I have fallen for their underhanded tactics. My e-mail was bombarded as well as my phone untill I had signed the paperwork and posted the postal order. Once I had done this I tried to call Licit Legal but there was no ring tone. I have now tried to search for them on the internet only to discover sites like this telling me how they operate.
I was lied to about how much they charge and due to the pressure I was under from my bank as well as the constant calls and emails from these cowboys I missed some fundamental points on the contract that I have signed up to.
On the same day that I posted the paperwork I discovered how bad the company are, I e-mailed the contact within Licit Legal on the same day to ask him to call me but no call received as of yet, that followed by another e-mail to tell them that I do not want them to pursue the claim on my behalf but still no reply.
I am at my wits end as I can not get hold of them on any of their 0161 or 0800 numbers and can not seem to find them online either....can anyone offer me any advise please?
Hi, Just reply to the last post regarding Licit Legal. I too have had the same problems. However i have manged to get hold of them. They have just moved office?? and there contact details are 0161 4426344 they address is in Manchester. I found out theses details by going onto the 118 118 web site.

Hi thank you all for your advice and support.

Well I finally got my bank charges back through LLLtd!!
It only took 8 months!!!!!!

I was fed up of them not reply to my calls and emails so I called the bank to see if the claim has been sent and was told that there was nothing on my account regarding a claim, the lady I spoke to told me that this could mean the claim has been sent. I then started to panik so my partner called LL and got no answer so he left a message saying that he was repricenting me in regards to my claim and he would like them to call him! Well they never called but 3 days later I recived my cheque for the right amount!
My partner never told them that he was my partner, he just made out that he may have been my soliciter. lol
i think that scared LL.

I hope you all get there in the end, and if you do have a friend/partner/family member that sounds like they mean buseness then get them to call LL. You might get lucky.

Good luck to you all and please let me know how it all turns out.
Arggghhh... i'm having exactly the same problems as what has been mentioned already. I've taken on a debt management Company to manage my debts and now LL are saying my refund will go straight onto my debt when the have TWICE promised me over the phone this would never happen and that they would claim the money and forward me what i was owed.. i am furious - i have repoted this to the Ministry of Justice.
Hi I put my claim in with licit legal in 2006, since then i have spoke to them on numorous occasions i was told by one person it was passed and would receive 12,000,i called back and spoke to someone els and he told me the other guy had no right telling me that , he then told me he would take the guy out to the car park and kick him in .he then told me the case was going to euro courts and would take six months to a year still waiting who are these people.
I have just phoned the manchest4r number detailed above and got through to a company who have taken Licit Legal over. I've been told that there is a "Test case" being brought forward at the moment and this is holding things up. I started this claim in 2007 and the contact from Licit Legal (or whatever they're called now) has been minimal. I paid them to do this on my b ehalf but had to pay the bank too get my bank statments as they told me that they would only discuss this matter with me as thier client. So I am still waiting for my charges to be re-imbursed - I hope they pay me interest!
