Offender of a crime gets let off in court then makes threats through a friend of his. What do I do?
I recently lost a court case against someone for a GBH charge. I was the victim of this. His lawyer made me out to be a liar an I have not lied once. I had a threatening phone call the day the trial was acquitted (I do not know the reason why the trial was acquitted but can only assume it was because there were no witnesses), in which the offender got one of his friends to phone me up pretending he was a lawyer to start with and then as the conversation progressed he then said he was a police office. In the conversation he was saying why did you have a screen around you during the trial, did I have something to hide and then he mentioned things that weren't related to the case in question. Towards the end of the conversation he said that the offender was going to take me to court for defamation of the offenders character and slander and then proceeded to say that he was going to come around to my address and smash my face in. This was on Friday. The local police are aware of what had happened but because it is the weekend no one from CID can contact me until Monday. I am really gutted the case fell through as I was severely injured during the assault and held captive against my own will, but his lawyer turned the case around into the offenders favour saying I was lying and I tripped and fell over and the jury fell for this. My question is I know he has broken the law contacting me and threatening me but I know the police can't do much as he went through a 3rd party to make the threats. Is he allowed to take me to court for slander and defamation as I am not lying about what happened to me as I remember what happened like it was yesterday (It was actually 7 months ago) as I have been constantly in and out of hospital over the last 7 months relating to the injuries I sustained? The offender has a criminal record a mile long, I was told this by the police and everyone was confident the offender was going down.

Further more you can always appeal the the acquittal of this guy and prolong his misery as long as your'e within the appeal deadline. If he want to sue for defamation he will have to prove that your prosecution was pursued by malice and intent to ruin his reputation. Well from what i gather this guy doesn't even have a reputation lol.
