Whats the alternative to Sky TV/Broadband?
16 Answers
I used to be with Virgin which I was happy with but when I moved house just over 2 years ago I had to go with Sky as they didn't have cable in the area.
Two days before Xmas I could only record programmes that I was watching and after many phone calls to Sky, to try to sort the problems they said they would have to send an engineer out which would cost me £65.00.
I told them there was no way I was going to pay as it cost me £73.00 a month, for Broadband, telephone and HD TV including Sky sports for their service and asked to be put through to the cancellation department who said they would send somebody out tomorrow for free, Yippee, as if they were doing me a favour.
Does anybody know of any other TV/broadband/telephone service that I could get for about the same price or cheaper?

They wrote to me and said they were charging me £10 for being late with my payment. I pay via Direct Debit so I rang the Bank to see what was going on. Nothing, the DD is still in place, what are they talking about etc. Then I rang Virgin and had a little shouting match with someone, whose accent I couldn't understand, as usual, but who was left with no doubt about my intentions if they went ahead with their charge. Because of this and because I do not want a sky disc on the side of my house I was wondering who did the same things. This has given me a couple of leads to follow if it becomes necessary. So thanks from me as well.

as far as i know talktalk do not do TV channels.
however if they did i would not recommend them.
from previous experiance i can tell you the internet speed is terrible after a very short time of being a member , and they never seem able to correct it for longer than a few hours or days.
i had their telephone service also which i found to be a waiste of time as everytime someone wanted to get hold of me i was already on the phone to talk talk techy support for broadband ... honestly the worst service priver i have had the misfortune to come accross...

I was in your scenario a few months back and did consider moving to Virgin from Sky. They dont do cable either though in my area. Annoying as it is though I dont think anyone else comes close to Sky with the amount of channels they provide. I wish there was more competition then they might have to improve customer service!
