i was told if you choose to go on the speed awareness course to escape the 3 points, they will be applied IF you get caught speeding again at a later date, resulting in 6 points being added..
is this correct please?

Yes I think that is true, speed again within 2 years and you get 6 points and have to pay both fines as well. The speed awareness course is supposed to teach you a lesson ! Your insurance will at least treble for the next 5 years as well !

Eddie, please stop spreading urban myths!

Successful completion of a Speed Awareness Course closes the matter and no points can be added to a driver's licence, in respect of it, at any time.

OK I was wrong but your mate still has to admit to 2 speeding offences in a year on her insurance even if one was 'pointless', it is still a conviction.

I was told on a speed awareness course you DO NOT need to tell your insurance as you haven't been convicted of anything.
