It also depends who left who, did he desert you or visa versa.
It takes approx 3 months but it all depends on the circumstances of who left first and is there any children involved?
It will cost you about £35/40 when the divorce is absolute.. Good Luck.

If there are no children or property involved there is no reason why you could not deal with a divorce yourself, the requirements are two years with the consent of both parties or five years without the consent of one party, but if there are children or property involved go and see a solicitor.
Go to your local county court and obtain the necessary forms if you decide on a DIY divorce.

After 4 years I started divorce proceedings. Hubby had our house, everything in it, our car and a Girlfriend half our ages. I had our son and £1,500. I could not be arsed to fight so only asked for the divorce, He kept ignoring the papers and even when a bailiff served them to him he tore them up. So be prepared as he might not want one..
You don't know where he lives and, apparently, how to contact him. When you get the divorce forms ask the court office about 'service' of papers in such a case. . The court can direct that service on the other party is deemed to have been done even though the present whereabouts of the other party are not known. That explains some of the Legal Notices you see in national and local papers; a court has directed that an advertisement in a paper which the other party in litigation might see,is service on that party.
