Losing Money During A Divorce
My ex husband stole money out of the joint account and i ended up having to take a much lower divorce settlement because he had no private pension and i did
My new partner wants us to marry but i am anxious that if we divorce (hopefully not!) I would have to split my NHS lump sum and monthly pension - i rent so no issues with house ownership
Can anyone advise me please?
Many thanks

Both pre and post nuptials can be taken into account by the court and weight given to them as circumstances demand; I believe the Law Commission is looking at the position at the moment. You may find the case of Radmacher v Granatino 2010 to be of interest.

Many thanks Tony. I have no issues with what happened in the past - 7 years ago now. I wont have a joint account again if i re-marry but don't want to find myself losing half of what i've built up over years yet again. I will have a look at the paper you suggested and i think i might have to just live in sin!
Thanks again
