House Insurance
15 Answers
Just had my new quote from Saga, beyond belief. I live in a two bedroom house in berkshire. I have the top of the range house insurance with them which covers you for an unlimited amount if you should have a leak from water pipes etc. most only cover you for £5,000.00. Quote comes out at £371.00.
Seems very high to me. Could someone please give me the name of one of their insurance companies they have been pleased with, as I am going to change this year. Even with Saga's cheaper house insurance, it is still very costly. Did wonder about John Lewis. Thanks.

Thanks all for your comments, I am going to shop around, not sure how Saga are quoting £148.00 frugalfred when they are quoting me £371.00, must be this premium policy cover I have. My friend's house is a 4 bedroom detached with 4 acres of land in berkshire and she has it insured with Aviva and she is paying £30.00 less than me in my 2 bedroom semi.
I've found that if you are with an Insurer the renewal quote is invariably increased. I feel they think you have so much to do you won't really have time to shop around...but I have and each year there is always an Insurer who can offer you (like for like) a cheaper premium... to get you on their books.. My Saga quote for a 3bed Semi was >£500. RIAS did it for £320. Before Saga was The Post Office who quoted low and renewed high. The pattern is there to see. Half an hour shopping round is a wise move.
