My neighbor receives attendance allowance & has asked me if I can help take care of him. I think I can claim claim for a carers allowance if I accept but will my neighbor then loose his attendance allowance???

No - it's separate completely. It depends on what income you have coming in, pussyfoot. Make sure pension payments are declared as that, any trust find payments are that as well - to support your general being as a pension. You are allowed to earn about £5500 from current earnings with no impact, the basic payment at just a few p short of £60 a week
