My broadband contract has ended. Looking to buy another, but cant decide which is faster. I need at least 2gb to view youtube vids etc my budget is 10-15 pound. Any advice appreciated.
I have no home telephone so this must be the dongle. Ta very much.
I have been on a rolling monthly contract with '3' for over 2 years now and for £16.54 p.m. i get 15GB. I initially signed up for 2 years but, as it is a rolling contract, a standing order means that it has carried beyond that period without any need for further contracts to be signed. I am quite satisfied with the performance of the '3' dongle.
I was wrong when I said I upgraded to a dongle, it is 4G Mifi. But I wish it was a dongle because I only want to connect via USB cable, and it's annoying to be stuck with a permanently on wifi connection (there is no option to turn it off) that I don't want yet still have to bother with setting a password to prevent others from hitching a ride.
I only connect my PC to it using USB so don't need the wi-fi side of it turned on at all, but I can't find out how to set it up so that USB is on with wi-fi off. I would be grateful if you could tell me how to do this for a Hauwei E5756 Mifi since the manual I have doesn't include this info.
With a USB dongle the only possible connection to it was the PC to which it was connected so there was no need for any password to keep others out.
Its not mifi, but as its a rolling contract, i will shop around and find a better deal in time soon. I must say, im using it now, and its so much faster than t mobile i had.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a simply on/off setting. There's a MAC filter to restrict the devices that can connect to it but a simple on/off would obviate the need for any special settings like that.
Thanks, phleb. It's not a problem, I've put up with it as it is for several months now. I just felt the need to counter davethefrog's suggestion that it has to be MiFi not a dongle by saying that I would have preferred a dongle for upcoming 4G if that had been possible.
