Coomonwealth Games - Why Do Women Boxers Wear Headguards But Men Don't?
5 Answers
Does anybody know why Women Boxers wear headguards but the Men fight bare-headed?
I've seen quite a few nasty cuts which you would think was an argument in favour of headguards but for some reason they are no longer used in Men's Boxing.
Women fight four two-minute rounds as opposed to three three-minute rounds - again tge obvious question is why?

Personally, I am not a boxing fan, but enjoyed watching Olympic boxing with the head guards because I felt the boxers wouldn't get too hurt. I don't think I can watch the Commonwealth boxing now. I don't enjoy watching people trying to bash each others' brains out.
For the second question, I don't know, but perhaps a shorter fighting time for women was a condition of allowing them to box competitively at all.
