Verbal Quotation And Verbal Agreement
My elderly neighbour has, in my opinion, been screwed over by a company that should feature on Rogue Traders! There has not been a written agreement of works to be done and she is being charged almost £4k to externally paint a detached bungalow. The company advertise themselves as a home improvement company yet they appear to be more upvc specialist. The 'painters' that turned up to the job were dressed in ordinary clothes, not painters whites, one looked like a schoolkid and I suspect the only brush he is used to handing is a toothbrush. They have constantly tried to get the lady to have extras done, new gates, powerwashing her patio then re-sanding and varnishing the flags! One of the crew spends more time with his mobile in his hand than a paintbrush and some fitted items are being painted around rather then removing from the wall. I was under the impression that the written agreement was proof of the 7 day cooling of period. If this is the case should I contact trading standards? All info gratefully received. Thanks
