I live in lichfield and have recently noticed an increase of air traffic over the city. The planes are quite noisy in the day and noticed a lot of quite low planes the other night with their landing lights on.

Can anyone tell me whether the flight paths have changed recently perhaps due to the runway extension?

Try looking on their website for their annual report. I've looked at one for Gatwick and it had a full noise impact assessment showing actual departure and arrival flightpaths, holding patterns and so on.

They do like to swap runway ends so that residents do not get disturbance on consecutive days but winds strong enough to be dangerous as a tailwind, for landing, may force their hand.

Well, that'll teach me not to hand-craft a reply using my own knowledge without refreshing the page first.
