Pergola
OH is building a new pergola in the garden after the previous 30 year old one collapsed.
We want some sort of roof/sun screen on it which we want to be shower proof and sun shady.
Has anyone got a pergola with something like I'm describing, and if so, what did you use on the roof?

'Twinwall' or solid. Speak to their sales people for advice. I guess 16mm is suitable, but tell them the spacing of your joists to confirm.
I think they cut to size as well. 🙂
You could consider adding summer covers in a sail cloth that would create additional shade just in direction that gets the midday/ early afternoon sun. Large eyelet and toggle-clip fixings ( don't know the correct name but they are like the clips at the end of a dog lead only bigger). Seen it done in a number of gardens also to extend the gazebo size if there is a convenient fence post or tree to connect to.
Morning Vagus
Have 2 pergolas in my back garden that I built myself ( many years ago though - couldn't do it now !!) and used polycarbonate as a covering on both. Works well but can get very "grimy" and unless you have decent access to the top will be awkward to clean - as I have found to my cost !! However, I would certainly agree with the builder. Hope all goes well.

Thanks fbg.
Himself has actually ordered some mini corrugated Perspex panels, translucent. Underneath that we'll have some kind of cane/willow to provide lots of shade. Also ordered a sail to try before we invest in the cane, it won't waste as we'll use it at the side as the low evening sun in summer (remember the sun??) shines directly into the pergola.
Have to say, it's looking good and is at least a third bigger than the previous one. Funny how things change and shade has become more important than sun... ☂️☀️
