I was told this week about someone who was in alot of debt, and they changed there name by deed pole and now they cant touch him for the debts. Is this true? cheers

No. They may have difficulty finding him to enforce payment but the debts are still owed.

If it were true, everyone would run up as much debt as possible, then change their name!

To change your name for this person would be fraud.

Sorry, should have been - to change your name for this reason would be fraud.

The debtor is still liable.
