Insurance company messing about
Back in September I was due to go on holiday but was taken ill about 2 days before hand I contacted the Insurance Company asap but had to phone them about 3 or 4 times before they even sent the claims form to me (they blamed the post) I filled in the claims for which included a doctors report since then they keep asking me for differnet thing documents that never exsisted and now just before christmas they asked me to fill in a form giving my permission to get my full medical history for the last 18 months but 1. I was not insured with them 18 months ago and 2. they never put the form in with the letter I have emailed them 3 times since then and they have not replied. Now I am not sure if this question is in the right catogory or not but what can I do about this insurance company it seems to me that they are just messing me about I have kept copies of all the corespondence that has gone between us except the original claims form which i did not copy has anyone any suggestions as to what I can do I am looking at over 700 which i cant afford to lose

I can only assume that the reason they want 18 month medical history is to check whether you had any illness or pre-existing injuries which you did not disclose when you took out the insurance. If you did, then this would invalidate the insurance.
If you don't get any joy getting the form in the first place, write to them Recorded Delivery requesting the Form of Authority within 7 days, and that you find the delays incurred already in this matter to be unreasonable. Whether that will actually get them to move or not is another matter, but at least you'll know they've got your request for the Forms, and can't claim not to have received it.
Just keep onto them, that's the only answer. Phone them, e-mail, write to them. Find the name of the person handling your claim and contact them direct.
