husband received a fine - sp30 - duly paid it - got cheque sent back stating that payment was not accepted and to await a court date ... this was nearly 6 months ago. does this still stand as he said he was told it wouldn't uphold after 6 months?
i didn't think so. he had 3 points already. i've no idea why it wasn't accepted - took a while for them to send us his cheque back so that was a suprise! thanx for ur imput
I had the same thing with Warwickshire Police who claimed that my payment of the fixed penalty was received out of time and I would have to go to court. That was in 2003 and I'm still waiting. As a general rule, proceedings should be laid before the magistrates within 6 months. This is not true for every offence. Leave it and see what happens, if anything.
