Consumer Law question
My mrs had a new windscreen 3 weeks ago in her vw golf, fitted by a national windscreen company, 2 days ago it was in the garage to replace the wiper motor, while doing this they cracked the new windscreen, they say it was badly fitted and therefore not their fault, then charged us for a new windscreen. SO I am now 150 out of pocket, I spoke to the national windscreen company and they say that in way are they responsible, and there is no way that it was badly fitted. One way or another I want someone to pay for the windscreen, and I will go to small claims if needed, but the main problem is that I can only take both parties word for it that they are telling the truth, any advice would much be appreciated, thanks

If they really thought it was the fitters fault then why did they not tell you before replacing it and give you the chance to get it repaired under the fitters warranty?
sounds suss to me too

They should have approved the work with you first - I would have refused t pay for it.
You should have then gone to National windscreens who would have replaced it under the terms of your windscreen insurance and the garage would then have been obliged to pay your excess. It's their fault they could have saved themselves some money.
Nothing to do with the windscreen company just the incompetant garage. Play hell with them and demand they pay the 150

yeah he did ring us and say the screen had broken, and said that he would pay for it, however after having his windscreen man come out to put the new one in, he changed his mind and said that the windscreen guy had said it was in wrong, and therefore did it anyway and then charged us, so maybe a breach of contract anyway regardless of whose fault the original windscreen was????
