I have a female married friend, who at a low point embarked on a relationship with a guy. She has tried ending it many times, but each time he threatens to tell her husband about it and as she wishes to keep the family together, feels compelled to continue the relationship. If she told her husband, she is certain he would leave. She now finds herself having sex with a guy she can't stand to save her relationship with her husband. What can be done to stop this loser?

As far as I can tell no crime has been committed. Therefore all your friend can do his call her lovers bluff. The longer she fails to do this the less likely it is that she will be able to convince her husband she was "blackmailed" into continuing the affair.
She has to end the relationship and chose either to tell her husband or to keep it a secret and hope this man does not carry out his threat.

She has far more to lose if she keeps quiet about it - telling her husband herself has got to be better than him finding out any other way.

Student is right - there is no offence here
