Does adding a stud wall constitute "structural alterations" to a building?
Our leasehold agreement requires us to seek permission from the freeholder before making structural alterations. We are considering adding a stud wall in the garage to make a room and are not sure if this is covered.
A timber stud partition which doesn't transmit any loads from above is not a structural alteration. If however, you were going to build a blockwork wall to carry structural loads from above to foundations below, that's a different story.
