I am recieving lots of phone calls at my home address for my son from a large credit card company.But now they have started to ring me at work which has become very embarrassing.I dont know where they got my works number from.what can i do as they are all based in india and will not stop calling even though they promised they would.

If they are debt collection, there may be a simple solution to address this ensure they stop bothering you. If it�s a solicitation call, it�s much more difficult and I�m sad to say, asking them not to call will not deter them.

Sounds like harassment which is a criminal offence and sounds like the it might be worth making a formal complaint against the company, especially as it's not your debt.

What's your son doing about the debt? It might be worthwhile for him to make an appointment with a debt adviser at CAB or a similar organisation to help him deal with his creditors.

Excellent advice you';ve received from Plowter. I agree this is harrassment. Sadly, some of our nation's more aggressive debt management services know the vagueness of international boundries and take advantage of this by using outsourced debt collection companies in Bangalore. It may be a matter that would capture the interest of WatchDog where they can name and shame the actual creditor.
