I recently asked about if an employee should be charged fr their own protctive clothing at work and received a very succint and informative reply. I am going to challenge my employer, but I was also wondering, could they just sack us for asking for our money back. After all we are only employed for 12 weeks on the run up to Christmas. Thank you again in advance.

You could be given one week's notice to terminate your employment at any time in this period anyway (assuming you've been there at least four weeks already - less if not). This is what is called a statutory notice period.
Whether asking for your money back could invoke this, only you can best judge this - even though you are in the right. In theory you could bring a claim for unfair dismissal if this happens because demanding your statutory right (to protective clothing in this case) is one of the valid reasons for being able to bring a case to an Employment Tribunal WITHOUT having the min. 12 months service.
However a naff employer might just decide to dismiss you and take that risk. He's probably more interested in ensuring the work gets done so it could depend if he thinks he can replace you quickly. Some brinkmanship may be required here.

Thanks buildersmate. I'll consider this before I go in with all guns blazing. After all, it is only 12.99, but then again it's 12.99 multiplied by ??????!!!! and it's the principle of it too. There are a lot of youngsters working there who will be hoping for a permanent job whereas I am semi-retired and just working for some Xmas pocket money. I'll let you know if I decide to challenge them. Thanks again.
