gas pipe for new boiler

hello all i cureently have a floor standing bolier in the kitchen which is fed by an external copper gas pipe from the meter which is approx 6 feet away. this is the only gas appliance (electric cooker) when the kitchen is modernised i am considering a new boiler in the loft...- is this agood or bad idea ??? instead of running an external gas pipe up the outside of the house into the loft it may be possible to run it up the inside of the house next to the soil pipe which will be boxed in..approx 10 metres, apart from being difficult is this a good or bad idea ????? my plan was to run the pipe in myself and then when the new boiler is fitted get the gas fitter/engineer to connect at the bolier and gas meter. what things are good practice? sleeves where passing througfh walls stand off clips etc ??? this next question may sound daft,,does the pipe have to be copper or in these more modern times is there a plastic alternative (transco use yellow plastic underground) if so what sort of radius bends can be acheived or is it all done the couplings elbows etc and are they all solvent weld.. thanks in advance

andy this is not a good idea for you to carry out the pipe installation . discuss the new position with the fitter and let him/her install it to the correct size of copper pipe and that it is gas tight. you would not save a lot of money, in comparison to the overall cost, and it is not legal for you to install it.

The Job will be classed as an illegal installation, You will be an illegal installer and any CORGI man would have to report the work and would not want to connect or commission the job and sign it off as safe when they dont know what you have done under floors and in ducting or if you have correctly calculated the flow rates and pipe sized correctly or tightness tested before covering up any pipes etc. There are all sorts of rules and regs to follow when running any gas pipes, through ducting or not. It is against the law and very dangerous to DIY with gas Judging by the amount of questions you are asking you do not have a clue how to do this safely or even what materials you can use so dont do it.
