My family and I are planning to travel to Dublin in a couple of weeks to scatter the ashes of my late father in law. In accordance with his wishes we plan to scatter them on the river Liffey in his home city. Do we need permission from a local authority to do this ?

Thank you both, will probably just find a nice bridge, scatter away then raise a glass of Dublins finest black stuff in his honour. Thanks again, appreciated.
