easements/right of way

has anyone any idea how we can slightly alter an easement/right of way. \we have a front garden which allows the neighbours to go over our land in order to gain access to their property. We want to change it slightly giving them better and easier access and creating lesd disturbance to us and better use of our land. Unfortunately these neighbours need to give permission, aqccording to the law, but they will not..it is not in their nature. No cost implicatons for them.

If it's better and easier for them why don't they think so, just trying to ascertain the reason for them not to agree.
