Hi there,

This may be a stupid question: My 6 month 'rolling' tenancy has come to an end and I am considering moving out, however, I'm a bit confused about how to go about this. Do I need to notify my one month's notice on the same date in the month as I moved into avoid paying another months rent? Basically, if I give notice and the notice rolls beyond the rent I have already paid will I need to pay an additional months rent even if I am not in residence for that month, or do I only pay for the days that I am in residence if it is below the month period?

Don't think you have to pay for a whole month if your notice period rolls beyond the date you pay the rent, I think you only need to pay to date which means if your 1 month notice ends Friday and your renting period ends Tuesday you only have to pay for 3 days in addition to the rent payd for the previous month. It's what I did.
You should only have to pay for the days you are in the property not the whole month. In your case though since its a rolling contract I would give my notice on the day before my rent is due just to keep things simple really.
