Noisy Dog

A person puts thier dog in the front garden and lets it bark at passers bye, are there any rules that apply. The family have a nasty reputation so it is difficult tp face them down

How exactly are they supposed to stop it barking? A dog has to go outside occasionally you know, and to be perfectly frank, if all it's doing is barking at folk walking past I genuinely can't see a problem here.

Contact your local council. They will have a department responsible for noise issues and will report back to you after investigating the problem. It may be a good idea for you to keep a diary of times and highlight any particularly disturbing events.

if you report it to the council the person in charge will send a letter to the owners of the dog saying a complaint has been made and please try to stop it, if they keep getting reports more will be done

and as to the answer that a barking dog at people is Ok I hope that you are not ever in the position that an animal has a go at you as you walk past

You said it was barking Dave G- not literally going for people.

And like I said, if all it's doing is barking, and there's a fence between me and it, besides it making me jump, it honestly wouldn't bother me if I was walking past it.

Well imagine being old and frail and having to walk passed that all the time - it can be quite intimidating and people do fear dogs.

I am old and frail (well nearly!) and as long as the dog couldn't get out and attack me it wouldn't bother me at all after all it's only protecting it's property it's not really hurting anyone.
