Listed Building.

Can a grade 2 listed building be demolished? There's a lovely house built in the 1600's by a wealthy landowner. Its been the local vicarage for donkeys years and long befor that,a farmhouse. Its standing empty now and the council are buying it from the church to either turn into flats or get it demolished. Can the council actually demolish this historic building? Its not dangerous outside btw. Thanks

According to the website above, it says:

The grades (different in Scotland and Northern Ireland)

The buildings are graded to show their relative architectural or historic interest:

� Grade I buildings are of exceptional interest

� Grade II* are particularly important buildings of more than special interest

� Grade II are of special interest, warranting every effort to preserve them

Unfortunately the Councils are a law unto themselves & demolish anything for development & finance.
