I live in a quite residential area area served by a main road approx 100yds away. A local plasterer who lives on the main road parks his large white van more often than not outside our house. He also has another white van again parked outside ours or further down the road, this is in addition to his wifes car which is also frequently parked outside too! They have room for one car although capacity for two if they were to do something with their drive, as I have done. All my cars are parked off road on the drive in front of our house. The issue is beginning to irritate me and some neighbours as we seem to be surrounded by builders vans. Do we have grounds for complaint or do I have to put up with it? Last summer he went away for three weeks holiday and the van was parked outside ours the whole time. Advice guidance pls.
Yours, Grumpy!

what would you complain about exactly? Somebody parking on the public highway? if this were the case any time someone came to visit you and parked on the road outside you house, THEY would also be the subject of complaints.
Why dont you just talk to him?

Nobody can magic there van away at night..it's got to go somewhere....unless there are restrictions you can't do much about it.

Why dont you park some of your cars outside your house and then you wont have to look at vans.

Looking out of my window at the moment...there are four white vans...

Whatever...
If there are no parking restrictions on the road, they are not causing an obstruction and the vehicles are taxed, they are within their rights. Annoying perhaps, but not the end of the world.
As given answers, but something similar here, these people have a drive ( as we do) they also drive a Peoples Carrier, I never drive into my drive but always back in in turn the front end of my car swings into the road as I reverse in, I have advised these people if their P/C causes a motorist to swerve as I back in & hits my car I will sue them, I am not saying they have no right to park there, they have as anyone does only to use a bit of common, because of the reduction in the width of the road because of their Van/P/c I have taken a photo of the situation & should it arise I will take it from there.
