If I wished for my Mum to have respite care in a care home whilst I was out of the country could I do this but use her money to pay for it. Sounds awful but its the only way I could afford to do this. Social Services will not help with respite care at the moment.

does your mum have mental capacity? if so she can decide for herself what her money is spent on. If she does not have mental capacity and you have POA for her, you must use it in her best interests, so yes
By the way, it dosent sound awful at all that you would use her money to benefit her!

Yes it is very expensive. My mum has limited mental capacity at the moment but I am going through the process of obtaining a 'certificate provider' to get PofA as soon as possible because she has been diagnosed with probable early Alzhiemers. She is desperate to stay at home and says she doesn't want to go into care at all even temporary so I'm undecided between Social Services help every day or pushing for her to have six weeks in a care home.
