If you type the postcode into this website, you can find out the actual price the property sold for.
http://www.houseprices.co.uk/
(It takes a couple of months after the transaction for the info to be updated).
This info in sourced from the Land Registry.
i did and it says it went for 110,000 but the lawyer dealing with it still says it only went for 75,000 even thou the land registry say that it was registared the same day as the house sale was concluded i just dont understand
thanks for your help
I'm trying to work out how these things work.
Did you get any money?
Or did the house belong to the mortage company - if so then from your point of view perhaps all the sale does is write off your £62500 debt?
the morgage company got 72,500 and the lawyer should have got 3,000 but only got 2,500 so acorrding to them i still owe 500 but the house was advertised as fixed price of 83,000 but sold for only 75,000 then i just dont understand it
I would advise you to go to the Citizens Advice Bureau for advice, with your paperwork and a printout of the selling price from the Land Registry (although this may be the price received form a subsequent sale after your distressed/forced sale went through). Be prepared to engage another solicitor should you have been shortchanged originally.
the best of it is the lawyers are not bothered to chase me for the rest of the money i owe them think i will go to the advice shop to find out thanks for all you advice
