Can I rent my property out??
Hope someone can advise me on this one please.
Considering renting my house out, have been fighting cancer, got 2 more ops to go, have a young son, i'm a widow. Staying at my parents with little room so thinking of renting somewhere bigger between us. I need help looking after my son. . I bought my property in 2005 as part of an affordable housing scheme where you paid 75% of the property price, incentive to get young people on the ladder- I don't pay rent . Not like the schemes that you buy a bit and rent the rest if that makes sense. Didn't know if there were any regulations on me not being able to do this, I own the property - no mortgage.
I obviously won't do this if it not above board - my deeds are at the solictiors would they tell me? I kind of forget about this as to me I own my house outright if that makes sense. . .
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it x

I remember it being an incentive where the builders took the hit monetary wise due to councils insisting on affordable housing . .Think I will visit solicitors and look at deeds / get some advice. x
If you want to view the 'title register' part of your deeds (which contains the information you're seeking) without troubling, and possibly paying, your solicitor you can do so by downloading it for £4 from the Land Registry's website:

yes of course you can sub let
lots of people do this to cover the costs
and yes you will find there is something in your lease to prevent you fromm doinng this.
Most of the time/all of the time, if the housing assoc is getting its rent, it doesnt care - the alternative being that hte house is empty and rent is not paid.
go for it
and dont forget to use a short hold assured tenancy agreement
lots of examples on the internet
