Hi guys,I bought a tent last week and on erecting it the seam ripped under the pressure of the poles that hold it up, I took it back to the store and they said they have to send it back to the manufactuer to ascertain if it was my fault or thiers! All I did was to follow the instruction that came with it but I have a feeling I will be lumbered with a repair bill or similar. I dont want the tent back but am willing to accept a different tent. How do I stand with my rights/is my contract with the store. Many thanks.
I posted this yesterday. The fact that it relates to a laptop, rather than to a tent, is completely irrelevant. Your rights are exactly the same:

My belief is that a court would rule that you were still within the 'pre-acceptance' period when the tent's seam ripped. You're therefore entitled to a full refund. If the store tries to tell you otherwise, they're committing a criminal offence.
