Mortgage Deeds
3 Answers
Can anybody please let me know pre 2002 should solicitors have sent you a copy of your house deeds upon completion of signing (I don't mean after paying off your mortgage after so many years) and if so am I now entitled to ask for them to pay for them as I never received any and have only just found out that I allegedly should have been sent them.
Many thanks in advance

Since compulsory land registration has been around for quite a few years now, it seems unlikely your land is unregistered.

I wouldn't have expected a solicitor to have provided a copy of the deeds. When I bought my house (back in 1991) it was the lender (Woolwich) who provided me with a copy of the deeds.
As Buildersmate indicates, paper deeds are largely irrelevant anyway. It's what's on the Land Registry's electronic database that matters.
