Those of you that had jobs or school or another important place to go to today, did you make it?

It was too slippy for me to get there on my own, the bus doesn't go that way and my mum wasn't going to drive me, so dad dropped me off about 1/4 of mile away, just before8am (he has to be at work for 8!) and even in his van, he struggled a bit, as non of the roads had been gritted. So I got there at about 8.15, to find one or two other students and 5 teachers . . . then there was an announcement that lessons weren't going to start until 10, but my teacher didn't get in until 10.15, and he set off somewhere between 7.30 and 8! but between the town that he lives in and the school, the roads were aweful, including a few accidents and what seems a little bridge that most cars were struggling to get over, so had to drive an extra 2 or 3 miles to get around, to the other side of the village, including the teacher, as he hadn't got a 4x4. God knows how people from where there are hills cope!

Skis?
No, after sliding all over the place for the first mile I turned round and took a flexi day.
Molly, glad you made it to and from school safely.
If this bad weather persists Father Xmas will be stuck in the Snow and I won't get any pressies
It was fine here, but black icy around the town as I came home. Howmuch snow have you had, molly?
I didn't get to work today...

but then again, I am on holiday.
Yep, Had to sweep snow off & defrost car, my gates were iced shut so bricked them open to hit black iced roads. Picked up a freezing old boy at bus stop who was going same way. He told me to turn down Queen music and said "thanx for the flight" when he left......grumpy old git !
Hope you have had a nice holiday Chuck. I haven't been to work for 6 months now - can't remember the route either ;o)
On this side of Suffolk, Molly, we've hardly seen any snow at all. There's just been a very light dusting of the stuff. (Not enough to make a single snowball).

When I was teaching in Sheffield, the snow was once so bad that all bus services in the city were cancelled. So I walked the 8 miles to school, finding that the snow was thigh-deep in places. When I got to the school, the cleaners (who were the only people there) told me that I must have left home just a minute or two before Radio Sheffield had announced that the school was closed! So (after a very welcome cup of tea) I had to turn straight round and walk 8 miles home again!
I too am worried about Santa and his elf Amazon
My car was all iced up this morning - I couldn't open the doors, and tonight when I filled up with petrol, the little petrol door which opens from inside the car, wouldn't. It did in the end, but there is no key, and nothing to lever!
that's dediction BC
jay - but you had the satisfaction of knowing what a good samaritan you are.
boxy - try carrying a disposable lighter - works a treat to clear iced up things - literally!
TTfn - knowing my luck, I'd set fire to the car....
samaritan - not me, I was chancing my luck :)
I managed to get home from work today but I couldn`t believe how quickly the snow came down. It was ok when I left work but when I was driving home there was a blizzard and it settled really quickly. I don`t mind if it snows over the next couple of days but if it snows after Tuesday morning, I can see my Christmas going down the pan
Stayed home the sun came out so I put the washing out since about mid day, but this evening it started snowing and I didn't realise everything is covered in snow and my thong is frozen in the shape of a boomerang!!!
LOL what_the, something cool to slip into!
boxy - well I was thinking about the filler cap when I typed ;o)
