A friend of mine has been convicted on 9 months GBH on First Offence at CATD prisoner.
Will he be able to get a tag/HDC?

What is the procedure and eligibility.

I shall appreciate your views as this is matter of urgency.

sandy Roe, I am just asking for an opinion, and not for personal comments.
I didn't voice an opinion. In my rhetorical question I was wondering if people convicted of violent offences get tagged.
Hi Karan

Speak to the offenders solicitor as sentencing guildlines seem to be changing all the time.

Thanks for the sensible replies. Yes he is a Cat D Prisoner and convicted for 9 months GBH on first offence. He is just finding a way to get HDC and needs the assistance regarding this.
Or get him to speak with his personal officer at the prison.

Sorry Eddie but what is the 'inside story'?.

My only experience with prisons / prisoners is dealing with criminal investigations, mainly Cat A and a little in Cat B.
I was in prison some years ago and EDDIE is absolutly right. (and I doubt that things have changed much)
If I needed any advice whilst in prison I always requested to see a probation officer. I wouldnt trust the screws with anything, especially advice.

Not being au fait with the criminal world and its argot, what is an HDC?

Thank you.
HDC = Home Detention Curfew

Thanks Eddie for your explanation, but inmates still have a nominated personal officer whether the prison establishment is a holiday camp or otherwise. And sorry, it would not make my hair curl.
