What is the likely sentence if found guilty of common assault in domestic violence for a defendent pleading guilty? Defendent has a criminal record including assault. Victim in this assault was strangled and left with injury.

I can only speak for Scots Law, but I would expect this to be a jail sentence, based on recent cases plus the obvious need to protect the victim. I would suggest that you
contact a local rape crisis centre or battered wives support group for advice in the morning. You could also check the links on this website:

Thanks for your reply. In the scenario that the defendant pleads not guilty and the only witness of the assault to the victim wants to 'withdraw' their statement if it goes to trial, will the defendant be less likely to be punished just based on the victims statement and medical record?
do you feel sorry for him, or are you scared of him? I assume you will say you love him?

No I don't love him nor do I feel sorry for him
if you're scared of him, you need to see the Witness Support officer at the court.
