Had A Fight, Got Seen By Police And Charged With Gbh With Intent

Been charged with gbh with intent after a fight involving 12 or so people behind a rail station. We had 7 they had 5 or 6 and we were giving them a well earned tanning from an earlier incident. What happened next was the one police just appeared, and seen me hitting this lad with a baton/extender and it took out most of his front teeth, severed his lip almost off, all from just two strikes. Pretty unlucky that they witnessed this as its not an area covered by cctv, but thats it. I have 5 incidents on my record, but no jail time and I'm hoping to avoid again. The lad didn't press charges, states he just fell, but this copper saw it, which is the issue here and i was arrested running off.

Ill be getting a solicitor in the morning, have funds for a good one.

Personally the boys think I may go down this time, but no witnesses will come forward, just that one copper and who knows if they will be able to accurately recall. We've had similar situations but never a witness like this. What chance for jail time do people think?

(I don't care for any *** judgmental ***, we all live our lives how we do, and the lad injured was game.)

I reckon its worth at least six years for a first offender on a plea of guilty. Me, I'd be thinking in terms of 8 years, even on a plea.

consent is not a defence to GBH - Operation Spanner - you cant consent to having a car jack put up your ....

and I bet he was less game after lacking his teeth. The Police could find him presumably by trawling the local Hospitals as it sounds as tho he would need treatment.

huf26 you WILL be found guilty, if you have any sense you will plead guilty and take advantage of the 1/3rd reduction in sentence . It will save the cost of a solicitor , no solicitor is going to get you put of this so just save the money for your release. You are looking at 10 to 12 years if you try to go not guilty 7 to 8 if you plead guilty. Hufc26: Unfortunately I agree that on what you say you will be found guilty so if you are guilty the best advice I can give is to plead guilty and ensure your legal team mention any mitigating factors there may be. I do think a good legal team can ensure that any mitigating circumstances are brought to the fore, but if this is the sixth time you will have been found guilty of this type of offence I believe you will be given a custodial sentence, your advisers will give you an indication of what to expect.
EDDIE: AS you probably know there are two branches of the legal profession Solicitors (who are usually very hard working and underpaid) and Barristers or Council (who can earn a good deal of money) and usually operate through the services of a Solicitor from whom Judges are selected, I believe Legal Executives can now also be selected for the judiciary. There are far more Solicitors than Council and firms of Solicitors can be found in most High Streets whereas Barristers are usually in centres of population, Solicitors often have a very close relationship and a great deal of confidence in their Barristers who often specialise and now to whom the public can have direct access. I had thought Fred was ex Council and you clearly know better than I, but I am surprised he could afford to have been a Solicitor.

50% of his future pals dont read and write. Aitken when he was doing time for perjury was known as the 'Joiner' not because of his skill at carpentry but because he was the only one in the prison who wrote joined up. (surely some of the prision officers did?).

Thank you NJ but I did mean to include Solicitors as being able to be selected as Judges, though few seem to be. It is understood Legal Executives can also be invited to join the Judiciary though I have yet to meet one.

here we have repeat offending without even having gone thro prison !
Having teeth removed without anaesthetic isnt something I would relish even if I were 'looking for it', game and p+ssed.

No it isn't bad luck. You have already gotten away with charges several times and no doubt a lot more. What you are facing now is the inevitable consequence of your behaviour.

You need to realise you do have a serious problem.

Do something about you violence or you are likely to be committing further offences in jail. You could find your liberty lost for a very very long time.
