What is the formula to convert rotary motion into linear motion.

a wheel and an arm. Imagine an old style train with the wheels and an arm attached to the wheels. The wheels turn, making the arm move back and thorth. If you attached something to the end of the arm it will move in a linear motion.

N(revs/min) = v (m/s)/2Pi r(m)

eg linear speed 20m/s at radius 0.2m gives

N = 20/2Pi0.2 = 15.9 rev/min

OR to reverse the process transpose ie.

v(m/s) = 2Pir(m)N(rev/min)

eg 200 rev @ 0.3radius gives v = 2x3.142x 0.3x 200

= 377m/s
