Murders on the Wirral

I recall a news story about two children who were attacked, possibly murdered, whilst fishing, on the Wirral, perhaps in 1995. If I recall correctly, while one child was attacked, the other ran for help, but the attacker chased him down and attacked, possibly murdered him too. The attacker then went for a drink in a pub, whilst covered in blood.
It sounds macabre, but I recalled the story today after recent events in Ipswich, and decided to read about what happened back then.
BUT, I cannot find any details of the event on the internet. Am I getting confused with a TV show? Does anyone else remember the event? Was it a murder, or just a horrific attack?

Hello,yes i remember it but i cant for the life of me recall any details,i live on the wirral as well.Wasn`t one of the boys sexually assaulted?

You probably refer to the 1995 murder of Paul Barker, 13, and his friend Robert Gee, 12, at a fishing pond in Eastham, Wirral.
However, I have no further detail nor can I find any on the 'net.

I went to school with robert Gee and Paul Barker .. Robert was one of my best friends.

Heyy, yeah it was their primary school caretaker that murdered them whilst they were fishing in a Eastham pond. I dont remember it considering I was born in that year lol, but my mum remembers it.
We live in the Wirral and I use to hang around the Eastham pond.
Its horrible knowing 2 boys were murdered there!
