How come a Con-Woman can be jailed for 2 years for fleecing her fiance's, yet two paedophiles were only given suspended sentences? Is money worth more than peoples lives? It would appear so nowadays.

If judges spent less time trying to embarass Government Ministers and got on with the job they are supposed to be doing, then perhaps we might have some sensible sentencing.
Additionally, elderly people have been jailed for non-payment of council tax. Seems money is more important than lives - or the safety of children - these days.
maybe a case for a referendum regarding criminal justice. Don't we, the people, have more sense than them, the leaders?
it's been going that way for ages. an old lady gets mugged and someone gets comunity service. a post office gets knocked over and o.m.g. its a realy big deal then! also, i've been on about the outer hebredian island idea for ages - but i'll just stay tuned i suppose.
I go along with the phrase ........

'the law is an' (you kow what the word is ..... 'donkey')

Defrauding the taxman in this country will always guarantee you a prison term rather than abusing or murdering a living breathing human being. That's our judicial system for you.
Any chance of telling us which cases you're referring to, Everhelpful? Your reference to "people's lives" suggests murder, but since a suspended sentence would never be given for murder, I really don't know what you're on about.

jenstar,I think the clue is in the word "Paedophiles".!! In case your wondering, destroying peoples lives doesn't have to be Murder I think the case where abuse has gone on might just have some impact on a life.
But your assumption seems to be that "fleecing" someone doesn't have a detrimental impact on the victim.

Forget it,jenstar, you are missing the point.!!
