US Visa Waiver Program

Hi,

I will be travelling to the US on holiday next month and wanted some advise on if I qualify to enter on the Visa Waiver Program.

I was arrested for theft in 2005 and found not guilty by a jury in crown court. will this mean I can not eneter on the VWP? I did however go to the US in May 2006 and had no problems?

The question on the VWP form is as follows:

"Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance; or been arrested or convicted for two or more offenses for which the aggregate sentence to confinement was five years seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities?"

why are you asking,you have no criminal record and you have been before,of course you are ok to enter the us on the waiver scheme

It because I think I answered the question wrong the first time and infact I should have answered yes to being arrested?

my husband has a drink driving conviction and we have had to get a visa to go to Florida on holiday. Anyone who has any convictions or arrests or cautions has to get one so we were told. However, I think this is a money making scam and not actually sure if they let you in the country without a visa anyway but we didn't want to take the risk as you have to pay fines and for your own flight home not to mention all the upset. by the way, to get a visa you have to travel to London be interviewed in person no one else is allowed in or even to wait outside the us embassy and pay �70 for the priveledge plus travelling expenses. we found the whole experience very nerve racking and very expensive as we live in Wakefield, my husband was treated like a murderer and I had to walk round London on my own as they will not let you wait directly outside as you are classed as a terrorist threat!
