In 1986. I was convicted of shoplifting a bottle of pop but, because of fear of losing my job, we went to Crown Court. In 1989 I had 2 further cautions for shoplifting. When I applied for the PNC check, the 21year old conviction still showed up. I thought that it would have been deleted after all this time, as, even though we went to Crown Court, it was still a minor offence. I read that it only remains on file after 20years if you went to jail, or had 3 convictions. I want to apply for a voluntary job and this entails a CRB check. Does anyone know if I can apply to anyone to get this deleted? I just feel that I've hung my head in shame for long enough.
