I have just received 6 points for "due care and attention" for bumping into the car in front. Apparently it only went to court because my MOT was out, the actual crash was minor, nobody was hurt. Its come at a time when I simply cannot afford a higher insurance rate. Is there anything I can do, like appeal?

Why post a question and then argue about the answers you have been given? Ethel is a very respected poster on this site and gives very good advice. I suppose your resentment comes from the fact that you have done wrong and now you are looking for a way out. You should be aware when your MOT is due and get your vehicle tested in good time. You had no MOT at the time of the offence, so pay up and learn a valuable lesson.
