Health & Safety stops Police boarding yacht.
Police officers called to an emergency on a yacht declined from boarding it because they had not taken a sea survival course, it has been claimed.
Lifeboatman said "Just as we were ready to launch the police called to ask if we could wait to take them with us as they wanted to attend and also had a defibrillator.
"So we waited and waited and then a bit more waiting.
"So imagine our shocked amazement when they then arrived having increased our response time by about 250 per cent when there was a suspected heart attack and told us that they couldn't come because they hadn't done a sea survival course. We set off and went anyway."
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Our stance is clear officers and staff make an assessment based upon their experience, training and equipment as to what they believe they can achieve within their own capabilities."

There seems to have been a spate of stories about Police not doing their job and claiming H&S reasons. Should we be concerned
