Is there a central source of info on sentencing?
I ask due to a recent local case which has caused many to complain about light sentencing. A man objected to two youths throwing litter through his sister's open car window. An argument ensued, during which they punched him to the ground, causing him to hit his head, from which he died. They have been convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 4 years including time served. This means that they will likely be freed in about 18 months. Most letters to the local paper criticise this, but one correspondent said however much they dislike it, this was normal for manslaughter. I wondered if that was right, and whether a publicly accessible resource listed standard sentences - or does it not work like that?
