I have a convition for assualt and received a community service order and a fine. My rehabilitation period of 5 years is 'up' in Feb 09 and will no longer have to disclose this conviction. However I recently had a conviction for a speeding offence and received a fine and 3 points on my licence. I know this is a criminal conviction but will I have to continue disclosing my first offence after the rehabilitation period was due to be completed?? All help and advice most welcome. Thanks.
No don't worry about that.I'm suprised you got such a severe sentence.Don't disclose it once it's spent ,and it has nothing to do with your driving offence.Having said that you do have a criminal record and if checked it will show,so that maybe a bit contradictry
So will this initial conviction show on a basic disclosure or will it be "spent" after the rehabilitation period is up, even if I have been convicted of speeding since?
Thanks
A criminal conviction can't become spent if another later conviction remains unspent. Therefore the rehabilitation period for your original offence is automatically extended until 5 years after the date of your conviction for speeding: http://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/rehabact.htm
